About Me
Since high school, I knew I wanted to be in the field of psychology. I wanted to understand what made people think and act the way they do, what happens in their brain when mental health afflicts them, and be part of the field that helps them heal. Between working with substance misuse recovery programs and preclinical research during my university training, I have a well-rounded perspective and knowledge of mental health and neuroscience. Using my PhD in Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience, I have started a career as a writer who translates current scientific research in the fields of psychology and neuroscience into digestible articles for the public. Stay up-to-date on advances in psychology and research, as well as find valuable resources for both mental and physical health by following my work.
Education
2017-2022
Master's and PhD in Experimental Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience
University of Memphis
The nationally ranked Experimental Psychology program at the University of Memphis expanded my knowledge of research, mental health disorders and symptoms, theoretical backgrounds, and statistics. As a behavioral neuroscientist in experimental psychology, I investigated decision-making and risk-taking behaviors commonly observed in individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). During this time, I presented my research at local, national, and international conferences, acquired 9 scientific publications, and collaborated on numerous projects to achieve a broad skillset of conducting, translating, and disseminating research findings.
2011-2015
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
Christian Brothers University
During my undergraduate training, I began conducting behavioral research in psychology, discovered my love for neuroscience, and completed an internship with a women's rehabilitation center for substance misuse. From my experiences, I decided to combine my love for all of these topics and continue developing my career in graduate school.
